Who Took Golden G?

Happy St. Patrick's Day! We wore green in celebration - and green just happens to start with the letter Gg!

At sign-in, we wrote about what we would find in a pot of at the end of the rainbow. There were some creative ideas!

After sign-in, we always go to the bathroom. When we came back to the classroom, there was a HUGE mess in the classroom. Shortly after discovering the mess, we realized that golden g was missing! We were very concerned about one of our letters disappearing!

The leprechaun left us a note on the SMART Board explaining that he took golden g and challenged us to try to catch him. He said that he hid some shamrocks around the room. If we find them and put them in order, they will give us a clue. We hunted around the room and found some shamrocks!

Next we sequenced the numbers and made a long line of shamrocks!

We then had to find the clue. After some thought, we discovered that the clue was on the back of the shamrocks. The clue led us to look at Mrs. DeKeyser's chair. We searched and search and finally found golden g along with another note from the leprechaun. He said he would be back so we made some plans to build traps to try to catch him so he could not take golden g again!

Today's story was There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Clover. See if your child can tell you what came out of her mouth at the end of the story!

We also played a "What's Missing? Leprechaun" game.

We did large group today instead of centers. Tomorrow we will go back to centers again. For large group, we made our own shamrock people! We learned how to accordion fold strips of paper to make the arms and legs. This was trickier than it sounds!

During playtime, the children were busy trying to find the tricky leprechauns. Several children worked on creating leprechaun traps to catch that sneaky leprechaun!

For snack, we added some green sprinkles in honor of St. Patrick's Day!

After snack, we danced with the streamers. It was a lot of fun! :)

Have a great evening!
