Happy Wednesday! Today we spent some time learning about the life cycle of a frog. We will continue to review the life cycle some more tomorrow. Our story was The Teeny Weeny Tadpole. In the story, a tadpole wishes that it could hop like its mom. As it swims around the pond, it discovers many other animals that can hop, such as a rabbit and grasshopper. On each page, it was exciting to see how the tadpole was slowly changing and growing. At the end of the story, a large fish comes to eat the tadpole, but it suddenly realizes that it is no longer a tadpole! Ask your child how it escaped from the fish!
We spent some time sequencing pictures of a frog's life cycle as a group. Tomorrow the children will be asked to do it independently.
Then we visited centers. Ask your child which center he/she visited.
The first center made a frog song prop. See if your child can sing the song for you at home!
The second center listened to the story Jump, Frog, Jump! and then practiced jumping like frogs. Each child recorded the numbers he/she landed on. Afterwards, children analyzed their data to see which number they landed on the most.
The third center reviewed letters while playing a lily pad letter memory game. We practiced matching uppercase and lowercase letters. Children at this center were also challenged to make the letter sound and come up with a word that begins with that letter.
Then we played. The children especially enjoyed listening to stories at the listening center today!
At closing circle, we began sharing our letter mystery bags. We will share more of them again tomorrow.
Have a great evening! :)
