Happy Monday! Today we learned about frogs! Our story was a silly rhyming story titled A Frog in the Bog. The children enjoyed listening for the rhyming words in the story. The story also helped us learn about some of the different animals that frogs eat.
We learned that frogs do not each just flies. They also eat all different types of bugs. We learned the song "There Was a Frog That Swallowed a..." to help us remember that frogs eat more than just flies!
We also practiced counting bugs to feed to the frog!
Then we visited centers. Ask your child which center he/she visited today.
The first center made a frog song prop to go along with the song "There Was a Frog That Swallowed a..." that we learned at opening circle. When the song prop comes home, see if your child can use it to sing the song for you!
The second center listened to the story Jump, Frog, Jump! and then practiced jumping like a frog! The children at this center took turns standing on a line and jumping as far as they could. They identified the number they landed on and wrote that number on their recording sheet. After jumping 5 times, they looked at the numbers recorded to see which number they landed on the most.
The third center reviewed letters by playing lily pad letter memory. Children at this center took turns trying to match uppercase and lowercase letters. After identifying each letter, children also had to produce the sound of the letter and a word that starts with the letter.
Then we played. Several children chose to make frogs to display during playtime today.
After snack, we learned more about frogs while listening to the story Fantastic Frogs. We learned that there are different types of frogs. Some frogs live in the rainforest while others live in the pond. See if your child can tell you something he/she learned about frogs today!
Have a great evening! :)
