We also played a bear rhyming game on the SMART Board. Check your child's folder for a copy of the game to play together at home!
Today we visited our final center for the week. Ask your child which center he/she visited today.
The first center completed a coloring assessment. During this time, each child was pulled aside one-on-one to complete some individual assessments.
The second center played a bear board game.
The third center completed a bear Bb page for their alphabet books. Then the children at this center went on a letter bear hunt around the room.
We also enjoyed playing in the classroom.
After snack, we read the story Who's Been Eating MY Porridge?, which was a mystery story that included many book characters that we are already familiar with. Ask your child what happened in the story.
We also practiced subitizing, which is instantly recognizing how many objects there are without needing to count. This is an important early math skill that is assessed in 4K. Playing games with dice is one way to practice this skill. If your child is instantly able to recognize how many dots are on the dice without counting, he/she is able to subitize small quantities! Today we practiced instantly recognizing how many bears there were. These bears were put in various positions that were not like the patterns on dice, so that children still have to recognize that there are still three, even if they are in a different pattern than on dice.
We also did the counting jar in both sessions today.
Remember to turn in your 4K family movie night sheets on Monday! We are hoping to get a good turn-out to see Paddington on Thursday night!
Have a great weekend!
