The Napping House

Happy Monday! Today we wore our pajamas in honor of our new feely phonic friend - nighttime Nn.

We read the story The Napping House. It was a very silly story that made us laugh!

Since we were already in our pajamas, we learned the song "Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed." Check your child's folder for some activities to go along with the song.

The children were also introduced to a message written on the easel. We counted the number of words, found letters, and underlined each word. Each day there will be a new message written and the special helper will get to come up and help us identify letters, words, spaces, and punctuation.

We also played "The Name Game" on the SMART Board. Miss McCabe revealed one letter at a time and we had to try to figure out whose name was hiding. This is a great activity to help children learn to look beyond just the first letter to recognize their name. Our names are a sequence of letters that never change. Just because the first letter in our name is shown, it does not mean that it is our name.

For today's activity, we used our muscles to tear paper! This is a great activity to strengthen our hand muscles for writing! Then we traced over the letters of our names with glue and stuck on our torn paper to make rainbow names. They will look great hung up in our classroom!

During playtime, several children chose to make name necklaces. We were excited to realize that necklace starts with the letter Nn. This was a great activity to work on sequencing the letters in our names. Check your child's folder for some name cards and activities to work on identifying and sequencing the letters in your child's name. The children also enjoyed making number necklaces at the sensory table.

After snack, we learned the song "Ten in the Bed" and had a lot of fun acting out the song!

Then we learned one of the songs that we will sing for you at our upcoming 4K Holiday Program! The children are very excited to sing for you! Watch your child's folder this week for more information about the 4K Holiday Program.

Have a great evening!
