Happy Wednesday! Today was a busy day in 4K!
Our day started off with vision and hearing screening. It took a lot of patience because we had to wait our turn for each part of the hearing and vision screening. While waiting, we enjoyed looking at Miss McCabe's special "I Spy" books! If there was a concern about your child's hearing or vision, you will be contacted.
When we got back to our classroom, we visited centers. Ask your child which center he/she visited today.
The first center made their name Nn alphabet book page and also sorted letters by whether or not they belong in their names.
The second center made a name Chicka tree to display outside our classroom.
The third center made faces that looked like themselves after looking in a mirror.
Then we spent some time playing in the classroom to develop our social skills.
In the morning session, we had a visit from Altrusa. In the afternoon session, our Altrusa visit was cancelled. It has been rescheduled for later this month.
We spent some time learning about how to draw an identifiable person. The children were introduced to "Mat Man." While singing a song, we added different pieces to create Mat Man. Then we talked about the parts that one will need to draw when drawing a person. The children will be encouraged to use details when drawing people. This is something we will work on a lot this year, as it is something that we assess on the 4K report card. We will spend more time next week on Mat Man and drawing people.
In both sessions, we used the SMART Board and sorted items by whether they were a number or a letter. Being able to discriminate between numbers and letters is an important skill.
We also continued to practice the first song for the 4K Holiday Program! Everyone is getting better at learning the words to our first song.
Remember that book orders are due tomorrow. At this time, I have not received any book orders. Christmas is just around the corner! If you would like to purchase a book for your child for Christmas, just let me know and I can set it aside until you can arrange to pick it up or I can wrap it in a brown paper bag and sneak it into your child's backpack so it can be a surprise.
We will also do book check-out tomorrow.
Have a great evening!
