Happy Monday! Today there was a substitute teacher in the classroom so there are not any pictures.
Today's story was The Very Ugly Bug. This story taught us about different ways that bugs or insects protect themselves from predators. Some bugs use camouflage, others can fly very fast, and yet others look poisonous so predators do not want to eat them.
We learned that all insects have 6 legs, 3 body parts, and antennae. Some insects have wings, but not all.
Then we visited centers. Ask your child which center he/she visited today.
The first center learned about ladybugs. Children at this center listened to both a fiction and non-fiction story about ladybugs. Then they made a ladybug. Under the wings, each child was given a secret number. Children counted to corresponding number of spots onto the wings of their ladybugs. Then they tried to trick their friends by having their friends guess what the secret number was.
The second center patterned circles to make a caterpillar. Then children at this center wrote the letters of their last name on each circle to make a last name caterpillar. Afterwards, children worked together to put together an alphabet caterpillar. They had to sing the ABC song a lot of times to figure out where each letter belonged!
The third center colored coffee filters and then sprayed them with water. It was neat to see the colors blend together! These coffee filters will be used to make a butterfly booklet on Thursday.
We also enjoyed playing in the classroom.
After snack, we reviewed the number 11 and enjoyed singing the number 11 song. Then each child went to the table to make a number 11 headband. They love making number headbands!
Have a great evening! :)
