Happy Wednesday! This week our nursery rhyme focus has been "The Itsy Bitsy Spider." Today we read some books with different versions of this nursery rhyme. The children enjoyed comparing and contrasting the different versions. They also loved listening for the rhyming words!
We also spent some time reviewing shapes while playing a spider game. The children enjoyed trying to figure out which shape the spider was hiding under! It was a lot of fun! Some children even chose to play the game during playtime today!
Then we visited our final center for this week. Ask your child which center he/she visited today.
The first center made sparkly, silver spider web names and went on a spider letter and number hunt around the room.
The second center made a spider counting booklet and spider Ss alphabet book page.
The third center did a spider font letter sort and chose either a letter Ss or number 5 hunt around the room.
Then we played in the classroom while working on our social skills.
After snack, we met our special Altrusa visitor! She read us a great story (We're Going on a Bear Hunt) and gave each child a copy of the book to keep at home! How special! Our Altrusa friend will visit us again next week with a new story!
Of course we had to do our new favorite song - "Spooky Walk." The children found some similarities to We're Going on a Bear Hunt in the song. We enjoyed hugging each other and pretending to be scared during the song!
Tomorrow we will have a classroom party! Thanks in advance to those who signed up to send in treats, juice, cups, plates, or napkins! Remember to wear orange and black tomorrow!
Have a great evening! :)
