Today Zookeeper Bob helped us learn what a habitat is. We learned that a habitat is a place where an animal lives, but also must have enough space for the animal, shelter, food, water, and friends for the animal.
Our story today covered many different habitats, such as the jungle, ocean, desert, and forest. We enjoyed singing along while listening to the story.
You can listen to the story by clicking below!
For today's project, we made our own habitats for a zoo animal of our choice. Children used scrap paper to create a habitat. Then they colored the animal and placed it in the habitat. Finally, each child laced the bars of a zoo cage. These projects turned out to be very unique!
We also enjoyed playing in the classroom!
At closing circle, we wore some animal headbands that we made. Then we made the animal sounds as we listened to the story Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?. Some children chose to leave their headbands at school to use in our zoo dramatic play center.
We also used our listening ears while the substitute teacher played different animal sounds. The children had to try to figure out which animal they heard. It was a lot of fun and kind of tricky!
There will be a substitute teacher in the classroom again tomorrow for PALS testing. Please make sure your child gets plenty of rest so that your child can do his/her best work!
Have a great evening! :)
