Happy Thursday! Today we made shooting stars upon arrival at school. We wrote our names on our stars and glued on streamers. Then we saved our shooting stars for a special activity at the end of the day.
During circle time, we read another version of "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star." We have been working hard at listening for words that rhyme!
Next we visited centers. Ask your child which center he/she visited today.
The first center went on a star colors name hunt. They had to find stars with the letters in their names and color them the corresponding colors.
The second center played a star colors board game. This group worked on the social skill of taking turns, identifying colors, and counting.
The third center made name constellations. This activity worked on identifying the letters in their names and developing their fine motor skills (hand muscles).
After centers, we played and continued to work on developing our social skills. Several children discovered blank booklets at the writing center today and were busy drawing their own stories!
During closing circle, we used our shooting stars that we made at the start of the day and used them to dance! We danced to "The Freeze" to work on our self-regulation skills. Whenever the music stopped, we had to freeze and could not move until the music started again.
The morning session won their fifth Class BEAK award today! Way to go! We brainstormed some party options and then voted. The winner was a pajama party! I will put together a note and send it home next week with the day of our pajama party. The afternoon session is still working on earning enough Class BEAK awards for a classroom party.
Next week will be the conclusion of our outer space unit.
Have a fabulous weekend!
