Letter Ww

Happy Monday! Today we learned all about the letter Ww. We read some stories to introduce the letter, learned its sound, and identified some words that begin with Ww. Our feely phonic friend is woolly white w.

We sorted pictures on the SMART Board by their beginning sounds. Each child helped move a picture to the present with its matching letter sound.

Our project today was to make our letter Ww alphabet book page. We made a wintry white Ww by pulling apart cottonballs to glue on the Ww and then adding snowflakes. Pulling apart cottonballs was a great fine motor work-out to help us strengthen our hand muscles for writing!

We enjoyed playing in the classroom. Santa's Workshop was set-up. The children enjoyed buying presents, wrapping them, and delivering them to their friends. They also wrote Christmas cards for friends and family at the writing center. Our elf friend also left us an elf game to play. The children enjoyed wearing elf hats and trying to toss rings onto the hats. What fun!

All day today we worked on a special secret project. If your child comes home with paint on his/her hands or feet, please don't ask too many questions! We tried to wash it all off as best as we could! We will continue to work on these special projects all week! :)

At closing circle, we read the story Mrs. Wishy-Washy's Christmas. We heard the /w/ sound a lot in this story! Ask your child what happened in the story!

Have a great evening! :)
