4K Bakers

Happy Wednesday! The children have been excited to arrive each day and find out where Jingle is hiding. Today we discovered that he caught a fox running loose in our school! We quickly checked to make sure that the fox did not get into our gingerbread dough! Thankfully Jingle caught him in time!

We practiced our holiday songs again today. I'm so proud of the children for their hard work!

When we got back to the room, we worked on a few different projects. Each child made their number 8 crown.

We also painted candy cane stripes on the letter Cc for our alphabet book page.

The part that we were most excited about was cutting out our gingerbread dough! Each child got a ball of dough to roll out with a rolling pin. We used flour to keep the dough from sticking to our rolling pins. Then each child got to cut out gingerbread girls and boys from their dough. We learned that after we finish cutting out our gingerbread, we can put the leftover dough back in a ball and roll it out again to get even more gingerbread girls and boys! Then we got to put the cookies in the oven to bake! The room smelled wonderful! In fact, the aroma was so mouthwatering that we were tempted to open the oven doors and peek in, but the children remembered from our other stories what would happen. However, Mrs. DeKeyser was having a hard time not peeking. The children tried very hard to keep a close eye on her so that she wouldn't peek. We're hoping that she didn't sneak a peek when we weren't looking!

Of course, we played. The children have especially been enjoying our gingerbread bakery!

After snack, we read The Gingerbread Girl. Ask your child how she escaped the sneaky fox!

Tomorrow we will decorate our gingerbread cookies and then eat them!

Have a great evening! :)
